LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 17 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team defeated No. 20 Dickinson College 9-0 Wednesday at the Bates Squash Center, rising to 7-2 with its third consecutive victory.
The visiting Red Devils (3-5) avoided a 3-0 sweep at just one of nine individual matchups. At the No. 3 pairing, Bates junior Maeve O'Brien (Essex, Conn.) outlasted Dickinson's Jocelyn Feliciano 3-2 (8-11, 11-5, 12-10, 4-11, 11-4).
Senior captain Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) defeated Courtney Trail 3-0 to rise to 8-1 at the No. 1 position, while first-year Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador) also won in straight games at the No. 2 position, raising her individual record to 7-2.
Also winning by 3-0 scores for Bates were junior Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at No. 4, first-year Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at 5, sophomore Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) at 6, first-year Victoria Haghighi (Bronx, N.Y.) at 7, first-year Cordelia Dotson (Houston, Texas) at 8, and sophomore Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) at 9.
The Bobcats will next play against NESCAC rival and 16th-ranked Amherst on Saturday at 6pm at the Heights Casino Annex in Brooklyn, N.Y.Â
