No. 18 men's squash drops close 7-2 match on the road to No. 21 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team dropped a pair of five-game matches and a pair of four-game matches is a 7-2 loss at No. 21 Williams on Saturday.

The Bobcats (3-4) picked up wins against the Ephs (6-5) at the No. 2 and 5 positions. Junior Mahmoud Yousry (Cairo, Egypt) earned his third win of the season by defeating Carl Shuck 3-1 (6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6) at the No. 2 position. And first-year Jesper Phillips (Moss, Norway) picked up the fourth win of his collegiate career with a 3-2 (14-12, 8-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-6 ) victory over Jacob Bassil at the No. 5 position.

Despite the 7-2 final score, the Bobcats made the Ephs work for the victory. Williams only swept three matches on the afternoon, with sophomore Omar Attia (Cairo, Egypt) and junior Benni McComish (Williamstown, Mass.) taking their opponents to five games at the No. 3 and 8 positions respectively.

With the win, the Ephs snapped their seven-game losing streak against the Bobcats.
