Michael Cooper finished a career-best ninth in the slalom to lead the Bates alpine skiing teams on the final day of the UVM Carnival.
Cooper (Alta, Calif.) earned 31 carnival points for the Bobcats and picked up 29 NCAA points with his two-run combined time of 1:58.56.
The women's alpine skiing team accumulated 49 carnival points in the slalom to finish eighth out of 13 schools.
Junior Hannah Johnson (Incline Village, Nev.) finished 12th out of 78 collegiate skiers to lead the Bobcats, earning 29 carnival points and 22 NCAA points.
First-year Kathleen Smith (Piedmont, Calif.) earned 12 carnival points and one NCAA point with a 30th place finish and first-year Emma Finfer (Highland Park, Ill.) chipped in eight carnival points with a 34th place finish.
On the men's side, first-year Tagert Mueller (West Vail, Colo.) supported Cooper by earning 10 carnival points with a 37th place finish out of 83 collegiate skiers.
The alpine skiing teams combined with the Nordic skiing teams to score a total of 390 carnival points, good for eighth out of 16 teams at the UVM Carnival.
The alpine skiing teams compete again Feb. 10-11 at the Dartmouth Carnival.
