HANCOCK, Vt. -- Senior
Kelsey Chenoweth finished in 11th place out of 51 collegiate skiers to lead the Bates alpine skiing teams in the giant slalom on Saturday to wrap up the Middlebury Carnival.Â
The Bates women finished in seventh place in the giant slalom out of 13 teams with 62 carnival points.
Chenoweth (Stowe, Vt.) tallied 29 carnival points and earned 24 NCAA points with her two-run combined time of 2:08.82.
Junior Hannah Johnson (Incline Village, Nev.) finished in 25th place with a two-run combined time of 2:11.15. She earned Bates 21 carnival points and picked up six NCAA points.Â
Fellow junior Sierra Ryder (Orinda, Calif.) rounded out the scoring for the women with a 41st place finish, good for 12 carnival points.
On the men's side, sophomore Michael Cooper (Alta, Calif.) accumulated a two-run combined time of 2:07.14, finishing in 47th place out of 66 collegiate skiers. He earned eight carnival points for Bates.
The Bates alpine skiing teams combined with the Nordic skiing teams to finish with 351 carnival points, eighth place out of 15 schools at the Middlebury Carnival.Â
The skiing teams return home Friday, Feb. 24 to host the Bates Carnival which is doubling this year as the NCAA East Regional.Â
