Sierra Ryder finished a career-best 10th out of 49 collegiate skiers on Saturday to help Bates women's alpine skiing finish fifth out of 11 teams in the slalom on the final day of the Dartmouth Carnival.
The Bobcats finished only two points behind fourth place Middlebury in the women's slalom.
Ryder (Orinda, Calif.) tallied a two-run combined time of 1:43.74, good for 33 carnival points and 26 NCAA points.
Fellow junior Hannah Johnson (Incline Village, Nev.) finished in 18th place with a two-run combined time of 1:44.97, good for 26 carnival points and 13 NCAA points.
Junior Brielle Antonelli (Warwick, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Bates women with a 32nd place finish, good for 16 carnival points.
First-year Ryan Clermont (Lincoln, N.H.) paced the men's team with a 29th place finish out of 64 collegiate skiers, earning the Bobcats 15 carnival points and earning him two NCAA points.
First-year Gavin Chen (Incline Village, Nev.) got the board Saturday thanks to a 37th place finish, earning Bates eight carnival points along the way.
The Bobcat alpine skiing teams combined with the Nordic skiing teams to earn 413 carnival points over the course of two days at the Dartmouth Carnival, good for eighth place out of 15 schools.
