LYME, N.H. -- Senior
Kelsey Chenoweth finished in 21st place out of 52 skiers in the giant slalom to lead the Bates alpine skiing teams on Friday in day one of action at the Dartmouth Carnival.
Chenoweth (Stowe, Vt.) missed the last few carnivals due to injury but returned on Friday to earn 23 carnival points and 10 NCAA points with a two-run combined time of 2:12.25.
Junior Sierra Ryder (Orinda, Calif.) also finished in the top 30 for the women's team, coming in 28th place with a two-run combined time of 2:14.20 to earn 20 carnival points and three NCAA points.
Fellow junior Hannah Johnson (Incline Village, Nev.) rounded out the scoring for the women's team with 32nd place finish, good for 17 carnival points.
Overall, the women's alpine skiing team finished tallied 60 carnival points, good for eighth out of 12 teams and only three points behind seventh place Plymouth State.
On the men's side, first-year Tagert Mueller (West Vail, Colo.) led the way with a 47th place finish, earning eight carnival points. Sophomore Michael Cooper (Alta, Calif.) chipped in seven carnival points with a 49th place finish.
The alpine skiing teams combined with the Nordic skiing teams for 182 carnival points on day one at Dartmouth, good for eighth out of 14 teams.
