SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Sophomore Katherine Cook placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run and became Bates' third-fastest runner ever in the event to lead the Bobcats Friday at the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Six days after she set Bates' team record in the 5,000-meter run, Cook (South Burlington, Vt.) finished the race in 36:52.00, fourth out of 25 women in the event to score five team points.

With just four events final, Bates is tied for 11th place with Williams out of the 20 teams that have scored so far.

In Bates' other highlight on the day, junior Allison Hill (Brunswick, Maine) led all 21 competitors in the 100-meter hurdle trials with her time of 14.64 seconds. Hill and the rest of the top eight will race in the finals on Saturday.
