WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Bates women's track and field team was productive in limited action Wednesday on the first day of the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Westfield State.
Sophomore Katherine Cook (South Burlington, Vt.) ran another blistering 10,000-meter race, finishing in second place in 36:48.82 -- her personal best time by more than three seconds -- and moving into second place on Bates' all-time performance list in the event. Earlier this season, Cook broke Bates' 5,000-meter record.
Running in her final collegiate race, senior captain and one-time All-American Isabelle Unger (Charlotte, Vt.) finished in sixth place out of 23 competitors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, in a personal-record time of 11:15.14. Unger beat her previous best by 1.84 seconds and moved from fifth place to third on Bates' all-time performance list in the event.
Senior Alexis Dickinson (Brunswick, Maine) placed seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.34 seconds, the second-fastest of her career.
Junior Sadie James (Avon, Maine) placed eighth in the 5,000 meters, with a time of 17:51.49.
The ECAC Championship, likely to be the final ECAC Championship for the Bobcats as NESCAC teams will no longer compete in ECAC meets next year, will conclude on Saturday.
