BOSTON -- The Bates women's track and field team recorded several low times, concluding with a fast distance medley relay race on Saturday, at Boston University's two-day, non-scoring Valentine Invitational.

Senior captain Isabelle Unger (Charlotte, Vt.), junior Claire Markonic (Millerton, N.Y.), first-year Ayden Eickhoff (Corvallis, Mont.) and junior Jessica Wilson (Cumberland, Maine) ran the distance medley relay for the first time and became the fourth-fastest combination in program history, finishing in 11:53.42, seventh-fastest out of 30 squads and second in Division III behind MIT.

Friday's Bates highlights included:

  • Junior Allison Hill (Brunswick, Maine) lowered her own program record in the 60-meter hurdles by one hundredth of a second, to 9.00 seconds. First-year Sarah Shoulta (Waterville, Maine)  finished in 9.88 to move into fifth place on the team's all-time performance list (the event changed from 55 meters to 60 at most meets in 2011).
  • Senior captain Elena Schroeder (Clinton, Conn.) ran the rare 500-meter run in 1:19.81, landing in fifth place on Bates' all-time performance list in the event.
  • First-year Katie Gonzalez (San Gabriel, Calif.) had a top weight throw of 44 feet and 10.75 inches, qualifying her to compete in the New England Division III Championship next weekend.
