NEW YORK -- Senior forward Marcus Delpeche made his first 11 shots from the field and finished with 27 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, leading the Bates men's basketball team to a 111-88 victory over Farmingdale State Thursday night in the NYU Men's Basketball Holiday Classic.

Bates (7-3) took a 60-38 lead at the half, scoring its most points in a half since also putting up 60 against Southern Maine in November 2015. The Bobcats finished with their most points in a game since November 2013 against Thomas. The Bobcats snapped both the 11-year-old tournament's records for points in a half and in a game (previously 99).

Bates shot a season-best .580 (40-69) from the field and .560 (14-25) from three-point territory, offsetting a season-high 25 turnovers committed. The Bobcats also outperformed the Rams on the glass by a 51-32 margin.

Marcus Delpeche's (Wilmington, Del.) putback of brother Malcolm Delpeche's (Wilmington, Del.) miss gave Bates a 78-45 lead and gave him 11 field goals in 11 attempts -- matching for a few moments the team-record 11-for-11 shooting effort achieved by Buddy Schultz '81 in the 1980-81 season. Minutes later, Marcus Delpeche missed his first shot, a straightaway jumper from 17 feet out. He finished the game 13-for-17 from the floor.

Senior Jerome Darling (Hartford, Conn.) contributed 15 points, a career-high eight assists and five rebounds in the win, while sophomore Max Hummel (Glastonbury, Conn.) also scored 15 points, making 3-of-4 on 3-pointers. Malcolm Delpeche added 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

George Riefenstahl led the Rams (4-5) with 18 points with six rebounds, while Liam Monaghan added 16 poinhts and Ali Mableton chipped in 14.

Darling scored his second four-point play of the season for an 8-3 early lead, and followed that with another three for an 11-5 advantage. Marcus Delpeche and the Rams' Riefenstahl exchanged two layups apiece to make it 16-9. Junior Justin Zukowski (Portland, Maine) then came off the bench and nailed back-to-back threes for a 22-9 lead with 12:50 to go in the half. Bates kept the lead in double digits the rest of the way, expanding it into the twenties on a jumper and a three by Hummel with 5:23 left in the half. A pair of free throws by sophomore Eli Frater (Brooklyn, N.Y.) gave Bates a 58-31 lead before the end of the half, where the score was left at 60-38.

Bates opened the second half with a dunk by Malcolm Delpeche and layups by Hummel and Marcus Delpeche, all three on feeds by Darling, and the Bobcats built the lead to as many as 33 points. A 9-0 Farmingdale run midway through the period cut the deficit to 84-60.

The final 10 minutes of the game featured the collegiate debut of first-year guard Jeff Spellman (Boston, Mass.), who had missed Bates' first nine games with an injury. The 6-foot-2 Spellman's scored the first of his nine points with a breakaway dunk on a feed from Frater, and he later cashed in on a spectacular up-and-under layup to finish off a drive down the lane.

Bates will take on Framingham State University (3-8) Friday at 7pm at the Hunter Sportsplex to conclude the tournament. The Rams defeated host NYU 65-59 on Thursday.
