LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 18 Bates women's squash team picked up a convincing 7-2 win over No. 20 St. Lawrence on Sunday in the Maine Round Robin at the Bates Squash Center.
Bates (2-6) clinched the win when junior co-captain Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.) swept Losangela Batista at the No. 7 spot 11-4, 11-7, 11-0. Â
Senior co-captain Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) continued her winning ways with a 3-0 (11-3, 11-1, 11-3) win over Cristina De La Vega at the No. 6 position. This marks Williams' sixth straight win of the season.
The third co-captain, Emma Dunn '17 (Bellevue, Wash.), also picked up a victory, sweeping Alexandra Matamoros 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 at the No. 5 position.Â
First-years Kristyna Alexova and Vicky Arjoon finished off perfect weekends at the top two positions. Alexova won in five sets 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 5-11, 11-4 over Jillian Banker. Arjoon picked up a four-set victory over Emily Terry 11-5, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7. Â
Molly Brooks '19 (Charlottesville, Va.) and Blair Weintraub '18 (New York, N.Y.) picked up straight-set wins at the No. 4 and No. 8 positions respectively.
The women's squash team hosts Mount Holyoke at the Bates Squash Center on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
