Hannah Johnson placed 12th and 15th, respectively, in the women's slalom to lead the Bates women's alpine ski team to a tie with Dartmouth for fifth place out of 12 teams Saturday at the NCAA East Regional Championships and St. Lawrence Carnival.
Chenoweth (Stowe, Vt.) had her second-best slalom finish of the season, recording a two-run combined time of 1:57.45 for 12th place among 76 skiers. Johnson (Incline Village, Nev.) had a season-best day in 15th place at 1:57.56, 0.01 ahead of 16th-place Lizzie Kistler of Dartmouth. First-year
Brielle Antonelli (Warwick, N.Y.) placed 38th to finish out the squad's scoring with 68 points.
Men's alpine junior
Cody Bullen (Newry, Maine) placed 34th out of 73 competitors in the men's slalom, at 1:59.84, while junior
Tanner Dirstine (Boise, Idaho) took 50th place.
Bates' alpine and Nordic teams combined to place eighth out of 15 teams at the carnival, just 16 points behind seventh-place and host St. Lawrence.
The season continues March 11-14 at the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships, as Chenoweth appears likely to win her first invitation to nationals.
