Volleyball falls to Bowdoin and Lebanon Valley in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 losses on Friday at Bowdoin, first in a NESCAC match against the host Polar Bears, then in a non-conference match against Lebanon Valley College.

The Bobcats (8-12, 0-7 NESCAC) will play another non-conference match Saturday afternoon at the University of New England.

Christy Jewett and Michelle Albright had a dozen kills each on Friday evening as Bowdoin (15-5, 5-3 NESCAC) cruised over Bates, en route to clinching a berth in the NESCAC Tournament.

Sophomore Chandler McGrath (Seal Beach, Calif.) led Bates with seven kills. Senior Tess Walther (Santa Monica, Calif.) and first-year Augy Silver (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) had eight digs apiece for the Bobcats while sophomore Nicole Peraica (East Northport, N.Y.) led the Bobcats with four blocks. 

Albright hit at 55% for the match, putting home 12 kills against just one error in 20 attempts while also collecting six digs. Jewett had 12 kills and nine digs in the win while depositing five aces. Quincy Leech had 37 assists for Bowdoin while Clare Geyer posted five blocks and Katie Doherty 13 digs defensively.

Junior Abby Leberman (Concord, N.H.) posted eight kills to lead the Bobcat offense, but the Dutchmen (19-4) proved to be too much for the Bobcats Friday night.

Kayla Confer attacked at a .522 percentage with 13 kills and one error, while Alli Quirk posted a .538 attack percentage on nine kills with two errors. Kacey Musselman piled up 38 assists in te match.

Junior Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) had a team-high 14 digs and three aces for Bates.
