Bobcat Quartet Selected to College Sports Communicators Women's Volleyball Academic All-District® Team

LEWISTON, Maine -- Four Bobcats have been selected to the College Sports Communicators Women's Volleyball Academic All-District® Team, announced Tuesday. Senior Ami Evans, along with sophomores Lauren Croom, Kate Norry, and Malina Young, made the grade for Bates.

Evans, who majors in biology, achieved a GPA of 3.73 to earn an impressive third All-District® honor. The outside hitter ranked 15th in the NESCAC with 164 kills (2.22 kills-per-set) and 16th overall in the conference with 211 total points. The native of Honolulu, Hawaii enjoyed six matches with 10+ kills and authored four double-doubles on the year. A team captain and three-time member of the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team, Evans slammed a season-high 21 kills, Nov. 1 at Wesleyan.

Croom lands her first All-District® honor having recorded a perfect 4.00 GPA as an economics major. Starting all 22 matches, the setter placed seventh in the NESCAC with 492 assists, complemented by her 27 service aces (T-2nd on team). Lauren collected 20 or more helpers in 12 contests on the year, including a career- high 49 in a victory at Hamilton back on Sept. 20. She also contributed six double-doubles on the season. Hailing from Overland Park, Kan., Croom also was honored on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.

Also making her All-District® debut, Norry, who majors in earth and climate sciences, notched her own 4.00 GPA. The middle blocker and right side appeared in 21 matches, making nine starts for the Bobcats. Norry planted 126 kills overall, including a season-best 12 in a NESCAC win vs. Trinity on Oct. 11. Hailing from Durham, N.C., Kate also made her first appearance on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.

Young rounds out the Bates honorees as the economics major recorded a healthy 3.53 GPA. The outside hitter landed 133 kills in 21 matches played (16 starts). Malina contributed five performances of 10+ kills, including a season-high 17 at Wesleyan on Nov. 1. A native of Redondo Beach, Calif., Young put together five double-doubles, including one in each of the Bobcats' final three contests of the season. Malina also is a first-time NESCAC Fall All-Academic honoree.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
