NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Junior guard Christian Mosley (Virginia Beach, Va.) poured in a game-high 23 points, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point distance and 8-for-9 from the field, leading Connecticut College (11-9, 1-4) to an 82-65 NESCAC victory against No. 19 Bates College (16-3, 2-3) at Luce Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.

Jeff Young (East Hartford, Conn.) chipped in with 16 points, shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Gabe Patton (Lynnfield, Mass.) tallied 13 points (4-for-4 shooting) and six boards as the Camels ended their six-game slide with a decisive triumph against the 19th ranked Bobcats.

Charles Stone (Hackensack, N.J.) posted a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Jahkeen Washington (New York, N.Y.) notched 11 points and five assists for the Camels.

Bates senior Zak Ray (Bangor, Maine) finished with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals for the Bobcats. Senior Rob Stockwell (Temple, N.H.) amassed 17 points and eight boards for the visitors. Junior Bryan Wholey (Marshfield, Mass.) added 13 points for Bates.

Gabe Patton drilled a three to provide the hosts with an early 11-3 lead at 15:13 of the first half. In the latter stage of the half, the Camels opened things up with a 21-5 run. Jahkeen Washington capped the rally with a steal and end-to-end conversion, and the hosts had a 32-11 lead with 6:35 remaining. The Camels carried a 40-20 lead into the intermission, carried by 78.9 percent shooting from the floor (15-for-19), including 66.7 percent (8-for-12) from three-point land. Bates, by contrast, was shooting 36.4 percent from the floor (8-22), including just 1-of-8 behind the arc.

In the second half, the Bobcats implemented a press to try to force some turnovers and cut into the lead with some aggressive defensive play. Ray drained a triple with 5:06 remaining and the Camel lead was reduced to eight points, 62-54.

But the Camels were able to take care of business at the foul line and used a three from Jeff Young to open up a 69-57 lead with 3:07 to go. Mosley iced the victory with a nifty interception and end-to-end fast break and the Camels had a 76-59 lead. The hosts were able to hold on for the 82-65 triumph.

The Camels cooled off only a little in the second half, going 10-for-17 from the floor to finish the game at a 69.4 percent clip (25-for-36). Bates took 19 three-point attempts in the second half, hitting seven of them, and the Bobcats finished the game with 40.7 percent field-goal shooting.

Bates next plays at Williams Friday at 7:30 p.m.
