Bettencourt was almost impossible for opponents to get out on the Bates softball team's season-opening trip to Florida. She hit safely in all 10 games, going 21-32 at the plate for a .656 batting average. Bettencourt tallied eight extra base hits, including two home runs. She drove in 18 runs on the trip, including seven in one game against Gallaudet. Bettencourt already has more hits through 10 games than she did all of last season.

She did all this while playing catcher all 10 games. Bettencourt did not allow a single passed ball and played errorless defense while guiding the Bates pitching staff to a 3.62 ERA.
