The No. 14 nationally ranked Bates women's cross country team placed seven of the 10 individuals overall en route to a first-place finish among six teams at the Runnin' Monks Invitational held at Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday.
Sophomore Isabel May (Erving, Mass.) finished second out of 60 runners to lead Bates, covering the 5-kilometer course in 24:58.6, 3.5 seconds behind overall leader Lucy Kenig-Ziesler of Emerson.
