In conditions that seemed to slow everyone else down, Bates junior Shaun Carroll was comparatively unaffected last Saturday, as the Bobcats won 10-7 on a cold, rainy and muddy day at Bowdoin's Whittier Field.

Carroll (Clinton, Maine) carried the ball 10 times for the Bobcats and gained positive yardage each time, with more than three yards on eight of those touches -- and one of the remaining two was a 3-yard touchdown.

Carroll ripped off a 24-yard run in the third quarter and scored the go-ahead touchdown with a slashing run up the middle from the 3-yard line late in the third quarter. 

The junior slotback finished with a career-high 80 yards plus the touchdown and was a major force in Bates' claiming its second outright CBB (Colby-Bates-Bowdoin) title in the past three years.
