Fitness Trail SignCampus Trails

The Bates Campus offers a  series of walking and running trails that promote fitness and pride while showcasing many of campus' best outdoor sites. Choose from among four routes through campus which can be access on the Bates Athletics Map My Run account.
  • B-Well 5k: 3.1 miles (link to map)
  • Bobcat Fitness Trail: 1-mile with workout stations (link)
    • A one mile loop through campus, the Bobcat Fitness Trail has six exercise stations along the way.  Each station is marked with signs which provide exercises for participants to perform.  Each station has two bodyweight strength exercises with the goal is to complete each exercise in Workout A, Workout B, or both before moving on to the next station. 
  • Garcelon Loop: .5 miles (link)
  • Puddle Loop: .25 miles (link)
  • Russell Street Track 
Fitness Park (coming Fall 2020)
  • A 5-unit fitness equipment cluster adjacent to the Wallach Tennis Center gives students, faculty, and staff functional training space in an outdoor setting. The park features various elements including pull-up and push-up bars, plyometric platforms, a log hop, and parallel bars. The Fitness Park is also included in the Fitness Trail route allowing exercisers the option to incorporate into a trail workout or just a stand-alone location for their session.
  • The Fitness Park is open to the Bates community from sunrise to sunset.

The Bates campus and nearby surroundings offer several opportunities to walk, run, or hike in natural, outdoor settings.  The resources below can be accessed on foot or bike from the Bates campus. 

Campus Fitness MapWalking, Hiking, Running Biking Additional Resources Safety: It is always a good idea to let others know where you are walking and when you expect to return. Walking in pairs and groups makes a walk more fun!
