Treatment/ Prep:
Â
Visiting teams traveling without a Certified Athletic Trainer are requested to call or e-mail the point Athletic Trainer 24 hours in advance in order to inform us of any special treatment/taping needs. We ask that each traveling team bring a fully stocked Medical Kit in order to service the visiting athletes.Â
Â
A table will be available for the visiting Athletic Trainer to use, either outside the locker room or in a nearby space. Ice will be available prior to a contest by request and following the contest available on the site of the event.Â
Â
Hydrocollator packs are available upon request. Modalities such as Ultrasound and Electric Stimulation may be utilized by the Certified Athletic Trainer traveling with the team.
Â
IF NO CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER TRAVELS WITH THE TEAM, A WRITTEN PRESCRIPTION FROM A PHYSICIAN, OR A NOTE FROM THE ATC, MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE BATES COLLEGE SPORTS MEDICINE STAFF FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF HEAT MODALITIES. BATES COLLEGE SPORTS MEDICINE STAFF WILL NOT TREAT ANY VISITING ATHLETES WITH ELECTRIC MODALITIES.
Â
Equipment:
Â
Typically the side line set up will include ice, plastic bags, and water. Crutches, slings, vacuum splints, and AED are on hand for emergencies with the host Athletic Trainer. Immediate care supplies may be loaned to visiting injured athletes when necessary. Anything outside the typical set-up would be by request. The host Athletic Trainer will conduct a pre-event Medical Timeout with the visiting Athletic Trainer or when not present the visiting coaching staff. Site specific Emergency Action Plan details will be reviewed at this time.Â
Â
