STANDISH, Maine – Bates men's soccer picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night, defeating Saint Joseph's 1-0 in a non-conference matchup.

Bora Ceranoglu (Milton, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the match, and the first of his collegiate career, just two minutes in, finishing off an assist from junior
Andrew Jean Baptiste (Montvale, N.J.). The early goal proved to be all the Bobcats needed.

George Nassar (Newtonville, Mass.) earned his first win of the season in goal, recording one save to preserve the shutout.
Bates controlled the offensive play, outshooting the Monks 19-7 and putting seven shots on goal compared to just one for Saint Joseph's.
The Bobcats return to NESCAC play Saturday, traveling to Hamilton for a 2 p.m. match.
