MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Bates women's golf senior captain Victoria Adams tied for 34th out of 66 competitors to pace the Bates women's golf team at the two-round George Phinney Classic, held Saturday and Sunday at Ralph Myhre Golf Course. 

Adams (Winchester, Mass.) shot a 79 on Saturday, tallying a birdie on hole one and nine pars along the way. She followed up with an 87 on Sunday, recording a birdie on hole 17. Adams finished just six strokes back of a top-20 showing.

Fellow senior captain Mehar Nijjer (Chandigarh, India) was the next lowest scorer for Bates, tying for 52nd in the field. She shot an 89 on Saturday and a 91 on Sunday. 

Overall, the Bobcats finished 10th in the field of 12 schools, nine strokes ahead of Gettysburg and 62 strokes ahead of Hartford. 

Bates heads to Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass. next Saturday and Sunday for the Williams Fall Invitational.
