BABSON PARK, Mass. – Bates men's soccer traveled to No. 4 nationally ranked Babson on Saturday afternoon and fell just short, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Beavers.
Bates (2-2-1) and Babson (5-0-1) met for the first time since 1991, with the two teams battling through a tightly contested match. The game remained scoreless until the final moments of the first half, when Babson was awarded a penalty kick. Alexander Yablonovskiy converted the opportunity to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Babson finished with a 10-4 advantage in shots, including a 3-1 edge in shots on goal.
First-year goalkeeper
Isaac Kolaczkowski (Beavercreek, Ohio) played all 90 minutes in goal for Bates, making two saves.
The Bobcats continue their road stretch next Saturday, traveling to Wesleyan for a 2 p.m. NESCAC matchup.
