LEWISTON, Maine -- Junior
Evan Berthiaume earned Track MVP honors and the Bates men's indoor track and field team won its second straight Maine State Meet title on Saturday, tallying 208 points on the way to victory.
Meet Highlights
- Berthiaume (East Greenwich, R.I.) won the 60-meter dash in a personal-record time of 7.08 seconds, moving up to sixth on the Bates all-time performance list in the event. He also won a state title in the 200-meter dash in 22.48 seconds and was part of the victorious John Corcoran 4x400 relay team as Berthiaume teamed up with first-year Briggs Catino (Rye, N.H.), sophomore Nate Roberts (Summit, N.J.), and senior captain Evan Migdole (Westbrook, Conn.) to cross the finish line in 3:28.11. He is the first Bates men's track and field athlete to win the Track MVP award at the Maine State Meet since 2020.
- Roberts led a 1-2 Bates finish in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 1:54.66. Meanwhile, junior Callahan Porter (Chester, N.J.) placed second in a personal-record time of 1:55.52.
- Sophomore Davis Brown (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) won the 1000 meters in 2:37.33.
- Porter won the 3,000 meters in 8:52.78.
- Sophomore Nick Nicolazzo (Wellesley, Mass.) was victorious in the triple jump, with his winning leap of 43-9.75 (13.35m) coming on his final attempt of the day.
- Sophomore Ryan Glaser (Rockport, Maine) won the Peter Doran weight throw with his top effort of 54-8 (16.66m).
The Bobcats return to action next weekend when they compete in a trio of meets, starting with the Valentine Invitational on Friday at Boston University.
