Sarah Palmer turned in her second All-NESCAC performance of the week, finishing runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday to highlight the penultimate day of the NESCAC Championships for the Bates women's swimming and diving team.
NESCAC Championships Day 3 Highlights
- Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) raced to the finish in the championship final of the 100-yard breaststroke in an NCAA 'B' Cut time of 1:02.55. She placed runner-up to Colby's Kellen Mottl, who touched the wall in 1:02.50. Palmer has now taken third place in the 50 breast and second in the 100 breast, giving her the first two individual All-NESCAC (top three) performances of her outstanding Bates career.
- The Bates 200-yard medley relay team of first-year Lily Dunn (New Canaan, Conn.), Palmer, senior McKayla Kendall (Bangor, Maine), and senior captain Lianna Rosman (Bethesda, Md.) placed seventh with a time of 1:44.37, earning the Bobcats 46 points. The 'B' team of sophomore Erin Barisonek (New Vernon, N.J.), sophomore Elena Trundy (Bath, Maine), senior Emma Burke (New Hartford, N.Y.), and sophomore Taylor Rolefson (Piedmont, Calif.) turned in the fourth-fastest time among the 'B" relays, taking 15th place in 1:46.76 and earning 18 points.
- Junior Cora Zuwallack (East Falmouth, Mass.) earned four points for Bates by placing 21st in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:48.69, beating their seed time by nearly three seconds.
- First-year Grace Knight-Meister (Fort Collins, Colo.) took seventh in the consolation final of the 400-yard IM, touching the wall in 4:38.42. Meanwhile, junior Soph Clausman (Edina, Minn.) won the preconsolation final in 4:39.28.
The Bobcats sit in ninth place with 419 points as a team with one day to go at the NESCAC Championships. The action gets underway Sunday at 10 a.m., with finals at 5:30 p.m.
