RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Bates women's golf junior
Isabelle Meltzer moved up 10 spots on the leaderboard on Sunday to finish in a tie for 22nd place out of 60 competitors at the Wesleyan Invitational, held at Lyman Orchards Golf Club.
Meltzer (Summit, N.J.) birdied the first and the final hole of the day on Sunday, mixing in nine pars along the way for a 76. This was seven strokes better than her 83 from the day before, which saw Meltzer birdie the 15th hole but also record a pair of triple bogeys and a double bogey. She avoided such trouble in the second round and finished just six strokes back of a top-10 showing.
Senior captain
Victoria Adams (Winchester, Mass.) also finished in the top 30 in the field, tying for 28th as she shot an 81 both days. Adams birdied the fifth hole twice, bounced back from a double bogey on Saturday to birdie the ninth hole on Sunday, and birdied the 10th hole during round one competition.
As a group, the Bobcats improved by 15 strokes on Sunday, finishing in ninth place overall in the field of 12 teams.
Bates is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18 when they look to defend their New England Intercollegiate Golf Association championship at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
