Women’s Soccer Earns 2-2 Tie at UNE with Goals from Hill and Jamison

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Bates College women's soccer team battled back with goals in both halves to earn a 2-2 draw against the University of New England on Tuesday evening. The Bobcats move to 3-1-2 on the season, while the Nor'easters settle at 6-2-1 after recording their first tie of the year.

UNE opened the scoring 17 minutes in (16:23), but Bates answered in the 30th minute (29:57) when junior Ruby Hill buried a shot into the lower right corner for her second goal of the season. Sophomore Gywn Jamison provided the assist.

The Nor'easters regained the lead just five minutes later, carrying a 2-1 advantage into halftime. The Bobcats continued to press in the second half, and their persistence paid off in the 85th minute (84:13). This time Jamison delivered the equalizer, firing a high shot into the left side of the net to level the score at 2-2.

Bates narrowly outshot UNE 17-15, with the Bobcats placing seven shots on goal compared to the Nor'easters' eight. In net, junior Sydney Litney and first-year Brady Jacobson split time. Litney tallied four saves, while Jacobson added two.

The Bobcats return to NESCAC play on Saturday with a noon matchup on the road at No. 22 nationally ranked Amherst.
