FARMINGTON, Maine– The Bates men's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 4-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington Saturday . The Bobcats (3-0-1) netted three goals in the first half and added one more after the break, while holding the Beavers (1-2-1) scoreless.
Senior captain Sebastian Iacovitti opened the scoring in the 10th minute (9:49) with his first goal of the season, assisted by first-year Chris Bianco and fellow senior Wilson Smith. Luke Cunniffe (Fy.) doubled the lead just seven minutes later (16:36), recording his second goal of year.
Bates made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute (32:52) when junior captain Noah Greiff tallied his first collegiate tally, set up by first-year Danny Burke. The Bobcats capped off their scoring in the 61st minute (60:48), as senior Tomas Alberola found the back of the net with help from Bianco.
Defensively, the Bobcats limited the Beavers to just five shots, only two on target. Sophomore goalkeeper George Nassar secured the win in net, while the Bates offense kept the pressure on with 25 total shots, including 10 on frame.
Bates returns to NESCAC play on Tuesday, traveling to No. 17 nationally-ranked Bowdoin for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
