PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The 2024-25 campaign has come to a close for the No. 23 ranked Bates men's squash squad as the No. 3 seed Bobcats dropped a slim 5-4 decision to No. 4 seed and No. 24 ranked Chatham University Sunday in the Summers Cup title round of the College Squash Association Divisional Team Championships.
The contest marked the Bobcats' first appearance in the Summers Cup (C Division) championship match since winning it all in 2016. The Cougars, which upset top-seed and No. 21 ranked Bowdoin, 5-4, in a semifinal match the day before, finishes the year at 6-7.
Playing in the No. 9 slot,
Max Good posted a come-from-behind triumph for the Bobcats. After dropping an 11-8 decision in his first game, the senior stormed back with wins of 11-7, 11-8, and 11-3 to earn the decision vs. Chatham's Keyel Beasley. Fellow senior,
Alec Spiro, blanked Jared Nalliah, 11-4, 11-6, 11-8, in the top spot of Bates' lineup.
Ryan Kim and
Maks Celm, competing at positions No. 6 and 8, respectively, recorded 3-1 victories in the season finale for the garnet and white.
