Bates Powers Past Connecticut College, 68-54, to Secure Fifth-Straight NESCAC win

Daulero Dominates With 20 Second-Half Points

LEWISTON, Maine – A near double-double from Elsa Daulerio fueled a commanding second-half performance, as the Bates women's basketball team surged past Connecticut College, 68-54, on Friday night at Alumni Gym.

Daulerio was a force in the paint, tallying a game-high 22 points on 7-18 shooting, while pulling down eight rebounds and swatting an impressive four blocks. The junior was instrumental in Bates' second-half surge with 20 points in the stanza as the Bobcats outscored the Camels 39-26 to secure their fifth-straight NESCAC victory (15-8, 5-4 NESCAC).

The game began as a tight contest with Connecticut College (10-14, 0-10 NESCAC) taking an 18-15 lead after the first quarter. The Camels' Catie Donadio led the way early, scoring nine of her 11 points in the opening frame. Bates responded in the second quarter, tightening up defensively and outscoring Conn College, 14-10, to take a narrow 29-28 lead into halftime.

Bates took complete control in the third quarter, using an 18-8 run to build a comfortable lead. Daulerio sparked the surge, scoring nine points in the frame, including back-to-back baskets at 8:35 and 7:59 that ignited the Alumni Gym crowd. A technical foul on Conn College's Hayle Thompson at 8:50 further swung momentum in the Bobcats' favor, as Daulerio knocked down free throws to extend the surplus.

Ava James provided a key spark from beyond the arc, connecting for two three-pointers en route to her seven-point performance, including a deep three at 7:15 in the fourth quarter to push Bates' lead to 15. Meanwhile, Danielle Adams was efficient off the bench, shooting 57% from the field and finishing with eight points.

Bates continued to apply pressure in the final quarter, outscoring the Camels 21-18. Sophie Spolter was clutch at the free-throw line, sinking four straight foul shots, including two at 3:28 to put the game out of reach. Mya Hicks was perfect from deep, hitting both of her three-point attempts, the second of which came at 3:02 in the first quarter.

Key contributions on the boards helped keep Bates in front, with James and Spolter each hauling in six rebounds. Alexandra Long was a steady presence on both ends of the court, finishing with seven points, five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.

The Bobcats dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Camels 44-35, and turned 16 second-chance points into valuable scoring opportunities. Bates also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 16 points off Conn College's 16 miscues.

Sydney Marshall led the Camels with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Avery Burns provided a spark off the bench with 13 points, including three triples.

The Bobcats now turn their attention to Sunday when they host Tufts in the final regular-season game for both squads. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. Bates will honor Long, the squad's lone senior, during a special pregame Senior Day ceremony.
