CLINTON, N.Y.-- Seeing its final competition of the fall campaign, Bates College women's tennis closed out its 2025 calendar this past weekend with an appearance in the two-day Hamilton College Invitational.
Saturday saw the Bobcats shine on the court as the team collected seven overall victories, including four in singles action.
Hannah Farber grabbed the first win of the day as the first-year breezed past Ellie McDermed of St. Lawrence University in second-round play by a score of 6-0. 6-2. Moving ahead to round four, the Bobcat trio of
Avni Bakre (Fy.),
Grace LaFountain (Sr.), and
Lia Swire (Fy.) locked down triumphs.
Bakre made quick work of William Smith College's Grace Magna 6-1, 6-1. LaFountain needed three sets to escape Mia Jacobs (William Smith), doing so by scores of 6-3, 2-6, 10-4. Swire collected a consistent 6-2, 6-2 win over Bethany Walker (William Smith).
In first day doubles play, Farber and Swire hooked up to defeat Alexandra Fuller and Maya Stepic of St. Lawrence, 6-3. In round three, Swire and senior
Isabella Saul landed a 6-3 win vs. Williams Smith's Walker and Mae Kellersman. Farber and sophomore
Mya Vincent upended Jacobs and Maddy Buck (William Smith).

On Sunday, Saul outlasted Hamilton College's Priyanka Challapalli for a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9) singles victory.Â

The Bobcats will open the 2026 spring season on Monday, Feb. 16 with a visit to the University of Redlands in Redlands Calif., the first of four matches on the west coast.
