LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College women's tennis, hosting its first home match of the spring after opening the calendar with 12 contests away from campus, welcomed No. 13 Bowdoin to Merrill Gymnasium for a NESCAC showdown between the Pine Tree State rivals.
It would be the visiting Polar Bears that would take the triumph, defeating the Bobcats by a score of 7-2. Bowdoin moves to 7-4 (4-0 NESCAC) on the year while the garnet and white slips to 3-10 (1-6 NESCAC).
The match opened with Bowdoin collecting a clean sweep in doubles play:

The Bobcats' highlights of the afternoon came at No. 1 and No. 3 singles as Friedman and Westmoreland bounced back in big ways with respective victories for Bates.
Friedman, representing the Bobcats at No.1, put away Bowdoin's Jamilah Karah by a score of 7-6, 6-0. Westmoreland, facing off agaisnt Julia Ross, authored a straight-set win of her own (6-3, 6-4).
