WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- #20 Williams, playing its first NESCAC women's lacrosse contest of the spring, cruised past visiting Bates College Saturday, 11-0.
Claudia Russell netted her first of four goals on the afternoon 1:35 into the game to put the home team ahead, 1-0. The Ephs (3-0, 1-0 NESCAC) never looked back as Williams secured its first shutout victory since blanking The University of Redlands, 16-0, back on April 22, 2009.
Lauren Morganlander and Cece Tauber each put in two goals apiece as the Ephs out-shot the Bobcats, 32-15 (23-8 on frame).
Anj Raman, playing 30:00 in her start between the Williams' pipes, collected six saves in the winning performance.
Avery Lehman took the tough-luck loss for Bates, recording six saves in her 45:52 of action.Â
The Bobcats (2-3, 0-2 NESCAC) return home to host Husson University Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. on Garcelon Field.
