LEWISTON, Maine -- Twelve different Bobcats tallied goals and the Bates women's lacrosse team rolled to a 22-2 win over Husson University Tuesday evening at Garcelon Field.
With the score tied at one, first-year
Laci Raveis (Fairfield, Conn.) earned a free position opportunity and converted it for the go-ahead tally with 10:46 left in the first quarter. The Bobcats (4-4) never looked back, taking full command of the game over the Eagles (1-5) by scoring 17 unanswered goals.
Bates led 13-1 after the first quarter and 17-1 at halftime.Â
Senior
Hanna Matthews (Westwood, Mass.), sophomore
Lauren Wong (Walpole, Mass.), first-year
Lucy Taylor (Falmouth, Maine), and sophomore
Frankie Franz (Chatham, N.J.) scored three goals apiece to pace the Bobcats. Taylor also dished out two assists to lead all players with five points. First-year
Hollis Hale (Lake Oswego, Ore.) dished out a game-high three assists and junior
Trish Balser (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) recorded a team-high three ground balls. First-year
Grace Cassin (Glen Rock, N.J.) had a solid game with two goals, one assist, two ground balls, and four draw controls.Â
The Bobcats played "make it take it" all game, winning 22 of 26 draw controls in the contest. Sophomore
Grace Yonchak (Needham, Mass.) led the way with a game-high five draw controls.
Bates tallied 40 shots while holding the Eagles to five shots. The Bobcats used three goalies, with sophomoreÂ
Raegan White (Duxbury, Mass.) earning the win by playing the first 30 minutes, recording one save along the way.
The 20-goal margin of victory is the Bates women's lacrosse team's largest since 2005, when they beat Whittier 21-0.
Bates is back in action Saturday when they visit Trinity for a 12:00 pm opening draw.
