GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Bates swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition Saturday at the NCAA Division III Championships, with the women placing 18th in the country and the men finishing 34th.

- Junior Stephanie Tropper (Solon, Ohio) placed 32nd and senior captain Mark Gregory (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished 20th in the 1,650-yard freestyle in their respective races.
- Sophomore Max Cory (Dublin, Calif.) tied Tufts' Peter LaBarge for 21st in the 100-yard freestyle and senior captain Grace Wenger (Hanover, N.H.) took 27th in her race.
- First-year Tim Johnson (Brewster, Mass.) finished off his NCAA Championships debut with a 25th-place showing in the 200-yard backstroke, and junior Sophie Cassily (Rye, N.H.) also took 25th in the event.
- First-year Sarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) took 26th in the 200-yard breaststroke.
- In the final relay race of the meet, first-year John Weigel (Iowa City, Iowa), Johnson, Cory, and sophomore Nate Pierce (Fairfield, Maine) finished in 19th place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, while the team of Wenger, Tropper, senior Margie McLeod (Durham, Maine), and senior Natalie Young (Windham, N.H.) took 23rd place.
Wenger graduates as a 14-time All-American despite not having a season as a first-year due to the pandemic. McLeod finishes her career as a five-time All-American and Young wraps up her time as a Bobcat as a three-time All-American. On the men's side, Gregory finishes his career as a two-time All-American.
The women's team finished the meet with 47 points while the men tallied 15 points. This marks the ninth straight time the Bates women have placed in the top 20 in the country.
