WATERVILLE, Maine -- The No. 22 nationally ranked Bates women's swimming and diving team won 11 of 16 events Saturday at the CBB Meet, defeating rivals Colby and No. 25 Bowdoin for the second straight season.
Bates tallied 165 points to Colby's 131, and the Bobcats picked up 181 points to Bowdoin's 102.
"I couldn't be prouder of how they attacked their races and took the risks needed to pull out the victory," said head coach

Meet Highlights
- Junior Sophie Cassily (Rye, N.H.), first-year Sarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine), first-year Emily Kalvaitis (Darien, Conn.), and senior Margie McLeod (Durham, Maine) won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:46.22.
- Senior captain Grace Wenger (Hanover, N.H.) led a 1-2 Bates finish in the 200-yard freestyle, prevailing in 1:50.75. Junior Stephanie Tropper (Solon, Ohio) took runner-up honors in 1:53.57.
- Cassily won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.10 seconds and prevailed in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.39.
- Palmer led a 1-2 Bates finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 1:04.82. Sophomore Lily Barisonek (New Vernon, N.J.) grabbed second in 1:07.49. The duo repeated the feat in the 200-yard breaststroke, as Palmer won in 2:20.80 and Barisonek earned runner-up honors in 2:23.81.
- Wenger won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.15 seconds and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:04.10.
- Senior Natalie Young (Windham, N.H.) won the 200-yard IM in 2:08.96.
- Tropper won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:35.57.
- Wenger, Cassily, Kalvaitis, and McLeod teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:35.71.
The women's swimming and diving team is back in action Thursday, Feb. 15 through Sunday, Feb. 18 when they compete at the NESCAC Championships, hosted this year by Middlebury.
