MANAHAWKIN, N.J. -- Bates senior midfielder
Anna Cote made history on Tuesday, becoming the first Bobcat to be named a First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Cote (New Gloucester, Maine) is one of just 16 players in all of NCAA Division III this year to earn First Team All-America status. She becomes just the second two-time All-American in Bates field hockey history, as Cote was an NFHCA Second Team All-American last year.
A biochemistry major, Cote led the Bobcats in points this season with 32. She scored a team-high 13 goals, including eight game-winners. Cote also dished out a team-high six assists. Her 13 goals are the most for a Bobcat field hockey player in one season since
Jane Davis '88 scored 14 goals in 1987. This latest honor comes on the heels of Cote being named to the
NFHCA Division III Senior Team,
First Team All-Region, and
First Team All-NESCAC. She also earned
NESCAC All-Academic honors for the maximum third time earlier this fall.
With Cote leading the way, the Bates field hockey team broke the program record for wins in one season this year with 14, advancing to both the
NESCAC championship game and the
NCAA quarterfinals for the first time.
Cote finishes her Bates career with 33 goals, including 14 game-winners, and 13 assists in 72 games played.
