Leah White (So.),
Phoebe Pohl (Sr.), and
Sophie Demeritt (Sr.) each earned USTFCCCA All-East Region honors with Top-35 finishes Saturday as Bates women's cross country placed third out of 30 schools Saturday at the NCAA East Regional Championship, held at Hopkinton Fair Grounds.
White, now a two-time All-Region selection, paced the Bobcats with a seventh-place finish of 22:06.73 on the 6K course, knocking about 18 seconds off her time (22:24.6) from a year ago at the same event and location. Pohl earns her third-career All-Region honor after recording an 18-place finish of 22:35.52. Demerritt lands back-to-back All-Region accolades by just qualifying with her 35th-place time of 23:14.17.
Sophomore
Gwendolyn Anderson (44th-23:37.04) and senior
Lily Miller (48th-23:41.91) contributed to the Top-5 scoring for Bates as the garnet and white tallied 147 total points. Colby College and Suffolk University (Mass.) finished just behind the Bobcats with 148 points each.
Senior
Isabelle Demeritt (59th-23:53.98) and first-year
Mikayla Ferguson (79th-24:34.29) rounded out the entries for the Bobcats.
MIT collected the East Regional team title with 56 points, while Tufts served as runner-up (67 points).
Bates now awaits its fate regarding the 2024 NCAA Championships. The 22 at-large team bids and individual bids will be announced on Sunday on
