HOPKINTON, N.H. -- Seniors
Andrew Mottur and
Ben Huston each earned USTFCCCA All-East Region honors with Top-35 finishes Saturday as Bates men's cross country placed fifth out of 33 schools Saturday at the NCAA East Regional Championship, held at Hopkinton Fair Grounds.
Mottur locked down his second-consecutive All-Region nod with a ninth-place individual time of 25:01.23, a full 32 seconds faster (25:33.7) than his mark on the same course a year ago. Huston also lands a second-straight All-Region selection with a 22nd-place showing of 25:37.06.
Junior
Jackson Monz (38th-26:02.52), sophomore
Nikhil Chavda (46th-26:15.47), and junior
Ross Tejada (47th-26:16.05) each contributed to the Top-5 scoring for Bates as the garnet and white tallied 162 total points. Senior
Nick Brown (51st-26:23.95) and sophomore
Jack Crum (56th-26:39.31) rounded out the entries for the Bobcats.
MIT collected the East Regional team title with 43 points, while Tufts served as runner-up (61 points). Worcester Polytechnic Institute (128 points) and Bowdoin (161) finished in third and fourth place, respectively.
Bates now awaits its fate regarding the 2024 NCAA Championships. The 22 at-large team bids and individual bids will be announced on Sunday on
