CLINTON, N.Y. -- Despite outshooting their opponent by a mighty margin of 17-0, it would be a Bates College own-goal that would put Hamilton College in the win column as the host-Continentals defeated the Bobcats, 1-0, in Sunday's NESCAC men's soccer action.
At the 46:27 mark of the second half, a Bates defender headed a pass towards his goalkeeper. The ball proceeded to dribble past the keeper and into the back of the Bobcats' net for the costliest of miscues.
Winning goalie, Finn Wheeler, did not face a single shot over his 90:00 of play.
George Nassar stopped all four of Hamilton's shots on frame in the complete-game effort for the Bobcats.
Hamilton moves to 5-4-2 (3-3-1 NESCAC) on the year after posting its third-straight victory. Bates falls to 6-4-1 (2-3-1 NESCAC).
The Bobcats now prepares to host #5 Tufts Saturday at 3:00 p.m. on Russell Street Track & Field.
