NEWPORT, R.I. -- Bates College women's volleyball, seeing its final road action of the season, traveled to Salve Regina University for Saturday matches vs. the host-Seahawks and Lasell University.
The garnet-and-white split the pair, defeating Salve Regina in match one, 3-2 (25-17, 25-19, 18-25, 25-27, 15-13), before closing the day with a 3-0 loss to Lasell (15-25, 17-25, 24-26). The Bobcats now own an overall record of 10-11 on the year.
In the opener, it would be
Sofia Castiglioni and
Ami Evans leading the charge as the duo paced the Bobcats with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Skye Higashihara fell one dig short of a double-double performance as the first-year setter provided 43 assists and nine digs in the win.
Sami Kim topped the team with 17 digs while
Bella Lomet soared to six blocks for Bates.
Salve Regina ends the day with an 8-15 record.
In the nightcap, Castiglioni, Higashihara (17 assists), and
Katie Kortekaas paced led the Bobcats with four kills each.
Ellie Asada settled a team-high 10 digs in the effort. Lasell now owns an overall mark of 22-5.
Bates returns home to close out the regular-season as the Bobcats host Wesleyan University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Alumni Gym. Senior Day festivities will take place prior to first serve.
