HARTFORD, Conn. -- Bates College, still seeking its first road win of the season, visited Trinity College where the Bobcats suffered a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-16) loss to the Bantams Saturday in NESCAC play.
The garnet and white (8-8, 2-5 NESCAC) defeated Salem State University (3-0) back on Sept. 14, but that contest was a neutral site match, hosted by Smith College. Trinity improves to 15-3 (3-3 NESCAC) with the win.
Eva Lekovic (Sr.-San Marino, Calif.) topped the Bantams with her nine kills on the day. Grace Sullivan (Sr.-Fort Worth, Texas) and Caroline Howell (Jr.-Houston, Texas) dished 14 and 12 assists, respectively, for the home team. Scarlett Jago (So.-Allentown, Pa.) ended the match with a team-best 17 kills.
Ami Evans led the Bobcats with 11 kills, followed by
Malina Young with eight of her own. Evans also settled 12 digs to earn the junior her third double-double of the week (seventh of year).
Sami Kim led all players with 20 digs.
Ellie Asada contributed 13 digs for Bates.
Skye Higashihara, third in the NESCAC with 516 assists, distributed 28 helpers in the effort.
Bates will move to non-conference play for its next outing, a 6:00 p.m. visit to the University of Southern Maine this Wednesday night.
