HANOVER, N.H. -- The Bates swimming and diving team took home victories in three events Saturday at Dartmouth, as the Bobcats impressed against an NCAA Division I opponent in a road dual meet.
The Big Green secured the overall win, with the women's team outscoring the Bobcats 170-67 and the men's team outscoring Bates 172-64.
Bates Women's Highlights
- Senior captain Grace Wenger (Hanover, N.H.) won the 100-yard freestyle in 52.89 seconds and took second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.91.
- Junior Stephanie Tropper (Solon, Ohio) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.52 and also was the runner-up in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:51.65.
- First-year Sarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:23.82
Bates Men's Highlights
- First-year Tim Johnson (Brewster, Mass.), sophomore Marrich Somridhivej (South Windsor, Conn.), first-year John Weigel (Iowa City, Iowa), and sophomore Max Cory (Dublin, Calif.) won the 400-yard medley relay in 3:24.21.
- Cory won the 100-yard freestyle in 45.89 seconds.
- Johnson finished second in the 200-yard IM in 1:57.12 and also took runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.18. His time in the 200-back is the second-fastest in Bates history.
- Sophomore Kailer Tom (San Francisco, Calif.) placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.58.
The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday when they head to Norwich for a tri-meet with the host Cadets and Colby-Sawyer.
