MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- For the second consecutive day, Bates College women's soccer found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 final score as the Bobcats suffered a Sunday setback at NESCAC foe, Middlebury College.
Following the same script utilized by Amherst College on Saturday, the Panthers secured a first-half goal and never looked back as Gigi Day's (Fy.-Washington, Conn.) second tally of the season in the 39th minute (38:53) proved to be the game-winner for Middlebury (4-2-2, 1-2-1 NESCAC).
The home team more than doubled the Bobcats in the shot column (23-10), yet owned a slim 8-6 advantage on frame. Winning goalkeeper, Carolyn Kelley (Sr.-Westborough, Mass.), collected four saves in her 45:00 of action. Livia Davidson (So.-Tuxedo, N.Y.) registered two of her own in second-half action (45:00).
Ruby Reimann went the distance in net for Bates, saving seven shots over her 90:00.
The Bobcats (1-4-2, 0-3-1 NESCAC) will take the week off before returning to the pitch on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. visit to Trinity College.
