AMHERST, Mass. -- A goal by
Abby Schwartz (Sr.-Alpharetta, Ga.) in the 16th minute (15:15) proved to be all Amherst College would need Saturday as the #10 Mammoths outlasted visiting Bates College, 1-0, in NESCAC women's soccer action.
The victory keeps the Mammoths undefeated on the year at 6-0-1 (3-0-1 NESCAC) while the Bobcats slide to 1-3-2 (0-2-1 NESCAC) overall.
Amherst attempted nine total shots with three targeted on frame. Bates got off four attempts with two on net. Starting (and winning) keeper, Mika Fisher (Sr.-Englewood, Colo.), collected a lone save in her 84:59 of action.
Ruby Reimann also was credited with one save in her complete-game effort for the garnet and white.
The Bobcats will now travel to Middlebury College for a Sunday conference tilt vs. the Panthers. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
