TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is proud to announce the 2023 Division III Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams as Bates College was honored on Thursday as an ITA All-Academic squad. Individually, nine Bobcats earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for their work in the classroom.
Bates women's tennis student-athletes earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors this year are:
Joanna Atwater '23 (3.69 GPA),
Syd Brown '24 (3.93),
Alexandra D'Aquino '23 (3.87),
Elizabeth Frekko '25 (3.92),
Olivia Gidlow '25 (3.71),
Grace Kennedy '23 (3.92),
Laura Littlefield '23 (3.72),
Isabella Saul '26 (3.80), and
Drew Williams '25 (3.81).
Student-athletes must have a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above. Bates achieved a cumulative team GPA of 3.60.
Academia is an integral aspect of the college tennis experience and adds to the unique student-athlete experience found on college campuses across the nation. Within the sport, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2023, 1,204 Division III Women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 160 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
