LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College women's lacrosse, playing its final home contest of the season Saturday, honored its senior class prior to a NESCAC tilt vs. visiting Connecticut College, an eventual 13-10 win by the Camels.
The Bobcats recognized seven contributors to the program, including:
Allison Greuel (Freeport, Maine),
Shelby Howard (Ashland, Mass.),
Zoe Knauss (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Cammie Lavoie (Epping, N.H.),
Hadley Nolan (Behtesda, Md.),
Sophia Scola (San Mateo, Calif.), and
Stella Stone (Providence, R.I.).
Once action commenced, the Camels collected the first four goals of the afternoon, owning an initial 4-0 lead with 2:57 to go in the first quarter. The Bobcats would proceed to record the next three tallies (two of which came from
Hanna Matthews) to cut their deficit to just one at the 14:13 mark of the second period.
Trailing 5-3 at the half, and 10-5 at the end of the third stanza, Bates rattled off three goals to start the fourth quarter (including two of the "man-down" variety) to inch to within a pair of the Camels at 10-8.
Unfortunately for the home team, Conn. College countered with three-straight of its own to go ahead by five with 1:47 left in regulation and essentially end the Bobcat comeback.
Five Camels recorded multi-goal performances in the win, topped by Hailey Fahey and Kate Coughlin with three apiece.
Caroline Taggart (So.-Concord, Mass.) added a hat trick of her own for the Bobcats in the effort.
Maddy Roelofs (Jr.-Rye, N.Y.) joined the aforementioned Howard (Jr.-Westwood, Mass.) with two goals on the afternoon as six members of the garnet and white found the back of the net.
Lavoie, in her last home appearance, grabbed five saves in frame (60:00) for Bates. Violette Nidds earned the win for the Camels with seven saves.
The Bobcats close out their regular-season on Wednesday, April 26 with a 6:00 p.m. visit to #12 Colby College.
