Camels Collect 17-6 Home Win Over Bobcats

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Wil Masterson's hat trick highlighted an otherwise difficult afternoon for Bates College men's lacrosse as the Bobcats experienced a 17-6 NESCAC road loss Saturday Connecticut College.

The host-Camels move to 5-6 (3-5 NESCAC) on the year while the garnet and white goes to 1-11 (0-9 NESCAC).

Masterson (Jr.-York, Maine) opened the scoring with goals at 12:58 and 11:59 of the first quarter to provide the Bobcats an initial 2-0 advantage. Conn. College responded with seven unanswered tallies to concoct a 7-2 surplus with 7:11 remaining before the break.

Owning a 10-4 cushion coming out of intermission, and a 12-6 lead after three periods of play, the Camels closed out the conference win with five goals in the final stanza of action.

Jared Rainville dominated the Conn. College stat sheet with five goals and five assists for 10 total points. JJ Ford (three goals, one assist), Liam Horkan (two goals, assist), and Jack Tenzer (two goals, assist) also contributed multi-goal efforts in the victory.

Drew Nyhus (Fy.-Lake Oswego, Ore.), in his second-straight start in net for Bates, collected 17 saves in the complete-game effort. Will Rice (55:53) got the win for the Camels with 11 saves of his own.

The Bobcats conclude its 2023 campaign Wednesday, April 26 with a 4:30 p.m. home game vs. Colby College.
