MEDFORD, Mass. -- Tommy Swank netted seven goals, and Kurt Bruun collected five of his own, as 10 different players found the back of the net for Tufts University with the top-ranked Jumbos defeating visiting Bates College, 20-7, Wednesday evening in NESCAC men's lacrosse action.
The victory puts Tufts' ledger at a perfect 12-0 (7-0 NESCAC) while the Bobcats go to 1-10 on the season (0-8 NESCAC).
Leading 2-1 with 11:49 to go in the first period of play, the Jumbos rattled off seven unanswered tallies to take a commanding 9-1 advantage at the 12:56 mark of the second quarter. Tufts would slip in four more scores in the session before coasting into intermission with a 10-goal cushion at 13-3.
Connor Hartman (Hingham, Mass.), despite the outcome, collected his fifth multi-goal effort for Bates as the first-year midfielder paced the squad with a pair of tallies.
Cooper Lance (So.-San Diego, Calif.) recorded a goal of his own while dishing three assists for the Bobcats.
The garnet and white stays on the road for its next action as Bates travels to Connecticut College this Saturday morning for an 11:00 a.m. tilt.
