WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --
Connor Hartman established a new personal single-game high for goals as the first-year midfielder netted four tallies for Bates College Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats fell at Williams College, 18-6, in NESCAC men's lacrosse action.
The garnet and white owned an initial 2-1 lead after goals by Hartman and
Malcolm Klingbeil (Sr._Powell, Ohio), but the Ephs answered with nine unanswered scores to put the contest seemingly out of reach with a 10-2 advantage with 2:00 to go before intermission.
Alex Horowitz (Jr.-Manhattan Beach, Calif.) kicked off the third period (10:33) with a goal for Bates before Williams whipped in five straight to put the score at 15-3 with 13:12 left in regulation. Hartman (Fy.-Hingham, Mass.) would account for all three of the Bobcats' scoring efforts in the fourth-and-final frame.
The victors dominated the shot column at 59-24 with a 34-15 showing on net.
Williams' Pearse Glavin topped all scorers with his five goals in the win. Calvin Caputo also had five points for the Ephs with a goal and four assists.
Despite the outcome,
Garrett FitzSimons (Sr.-Garden City, N.Y.) showed tremendous effort in the Bobcat net with 16 saves in his 55:27. Matthew Frietas (57:32) earned the win for Williams (5-3, 4-1 NESCAC), compiling seven saves.
Bates (1-7, 0-5 NESCAC) next sees action Wednesday night with a visit to Bowdoin College for a 7:00 p.m. conference clash.
